Repetition is Intentional

As we continue our journey through Psalm 89, one word keeps rising to the surface: faithfulness.

In Psalm 89, the psalmist mentions God’s faithfulness seven different times (verses 1, 2, 5, 8, 24, 33, and 49). That repetition is intentional. The writer wants us to see that God’s faithfulness is not just one of His attributes—it is woven into everything He does.

Verse 2 says: “I will declare that your love stands firm forever, that you have established your faithfulness in heaven itself.”

What a beautiful picture. God’s love is not fragile or temporary. It stands firm forever. And His faithfulness is established in heaven itself—fixed, secure, and unchanging. Long before our circumstances appeared and long after they pass away, God’s faithfulness remains exactly the same.

That truth gives believers a solid foundation for life. We trust Him because He is faithful. We walk by faith because the One in whom we place our faith never fails. God’s faithfulness becomes the anchor for our faith.

And as we experience His faithfulness, we are called to reflect it in our own lives. God is faithful to His promises, faithful to His Word, and faithful to His people. Therefore, His people are to live by faith and practice faithfulness—in our relationships, our commitments, our service, and our daily walk with Him.

Today, take a moment to remember the ways God has been faithful to you. His faithfulness has not changed, and it never will. The God who was faithful yesterday will be faithful today and faithful forever.
