Joy is Called Greater

There is something deeply beautiful about the word JOY in 3 John 1:4.

“I have no greater JOY than to hear that my children are walking in the truth.”

John wasn’t talking about temporary happiness tied to circumstances. He was speaking of the kind of joy that fills a heart when the people you love are following God faithfully. It is the joy of seeing truth lived out… of watching faith become real in everyday life.

For parents, grandparents, mentors, and friends, there is no earthly success, achievement, or possession that compares to knowing those we love are walking closely with the Lord. That kind of joy reaches beyond this moment and carries eternal significance.

This verse reminds us that true joy is not found in what we gain for ourselves, but in seeing others grow in Christ, love Him, and live in His truth. It is a joy rooted in heaven, nurtured by prayer, and strengthened through faithful love.

And perhaps that is why this joy is called “greater” — because it reflects the very heart of God.
