40 Days Later…
40 days had gone by since Jesus resurrection.
I’m sitting… Bible open in my lap… reading slowly, letting the words settle.
“Why do you stand looking into heaven…”
And suddenly, I wasn’t just reading anymore.
I could see it.
I’m there—standing among them. The air feels still, almost sacred. Jesus is right in front of us… calm, steady… speaking words I’m trying to hold onto with everything in me.
I don’t want the moment to end.
And then… He begins to rise.
At first, it’s almost gentle… like heaven is quietly calling Him home. The light around Him grows brighter, wrapping Him in glory. My heart tightens—I want to reach out, to hold onto Him, to stay in this moment just a little longer.
Everyone around me is looking up… and I realize I am too. Completely fixed on Him. Not wanting to miss even a second.
And then He’s gone… hidden in the clouds.
Silence.
A holy, aching silence.
“Why do you stand looking into heaven?”
The words break through, and I feel them deep.
Because I love Him. Because I just watched Him go. Because part of me wishes He had stayed.
But then—
“This same Jesus… will come back in the same way.”
And just like that, the ache turns into something else.
HOPE!
I blink… and I’m back in my chair. My Bible still open. The room quiet again.
But my heart isn’t the same.
Because I didn’t just read it…
I felt it.
And now every time I lift my eyes, I remember—
He is coming again.
